Bi Weekly Meditation: Calm

Okay, so very quickly, here is this week’s meditation.

Rather than do something of my own I found a wonderful site you may not be aware of.  Calm.com.

It offers 2, 10, and 20 minutes guided meditations.

You can pick the nature scene with that is accompanied by the matching background noise and for a few minutes just relax.

Calm 1

There are others but I felt this gives you an idea of the kind of backgrounds they have.

Listening to 2 minutes of this is better than a 15 minute break.

The discovery of this site has been a godsend to me, trust me, use it a couple times during your work day, you’ll find your stress level goes down, your productivity goes up, you’ll leave work happier, you get more done in the day.

It’s a nice reminder to just occasionally clear out from all your troubles.

The other nice thing is that even when the meditation is over the sound of the scene will continue and you can just leave it on as relaxing white noise.

Works wonders for trying to get to sleep too.

So this week I would recommend that you just try out this site and see if it helps you regain some quiet and control in your life. calm 2

The Weekly Meditation: Setting Goals For the New Year

So the new year is upon us.  I don’t know about you but 2012 is not going down as the best year in my life…and I wish it will go down as the worst year of my life (but I feel certain tyrants will put the next four in the running).

That aside, let’s look to the new year.

About now is when people start thinking about making New Year’s Resolutions.  This is usually a mistake that turns into a miserable failure.  Usually, I think, for two reasons. The first is that people make these grand resolutions and then when they don’t get done in the first couple of week people just give up. The second problem, I think because people tend to focus on only one aspect, thinking that improving one thing about themselves is all they need to worry about, when in reality were a multifaceted beings, and each part is connected to all other parts.  To just work on one small thing without adjusting all the parts to work in harmony will often fail.

So I’m going to propose for this week is in three parts the first is to meditate on areas of your life where you can improve for each of the seven chakras (to save space I’m not going to go over what each is unless someone asks).  If seven goals seems like too much, I might look at Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (which is deeply connected to the chakras) and look for 5 things you can improve on–look for 5 ways you can meet the 5 different categories of needs*.  The goal should be looking for multiple ways to make yourself a better person, a person you want to be, a person who is closer to God–way that in terms of habits, your physical nature, your emotions, your thoughts and beliefs are all better.

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

After you have your goals in mind, goals that look to you as a whole person, I would recommend taking time to break that goal into 4-10 steps.

Write these goals and these steps out…post them in your house, they’re going to be your friends for the whole year. Bare minimum that’s 20 intermediate goals.  You will see progress on that no matter what if you put even a modicum of effort into this, which means there will be less chance of giving up due to not seeing results.

Finally, if this part doesn’t take all week at the end of the week (and probably at least once a week for the whole year) you should sit and envision yourself at the end of the having met every goal.  See the person who you have become and believe that it will be a fact.  Even if you don’t believe in the Law of Attraction and that thought creates reality, the psychological fact is that this will help reinforce your habits and desire to meet your goal.

Now matter what this will help you in your path of self improvement, which is what life is supposed to be about because that’s what leads to Happiness.

* Yes I know it’s a hierarchy and one should meet certain needs before others…but the fact of the matter even if we’re meeting needs most of us probably have a flaw or two in how we’re meeting them and can improve (we’re only human after all)…and by improving the foundation it makes meeting other needs easier.  Also by look to needs we haven’t met we can help provide ourselves the needed motivation to get past problems that involve us meeting our current needs.

Weekly Meditation: Trust Thyself

So rather than come up with a meditation for you this week, I thought the most important thing for everyone would be to look for your own answers.

So this week I would recommend you make a list of questions that you have for God and the universe.  Go to a quite place and rest in a comfortable position (preferably as close as you get to lotus position as you can, but whatever works for you will be best).

Ask your questions that you want answered, either aloud or just silently to yourself, and sit quietly for the next 5-10 minutes focusing on nothing.  If the answer comes to you, great…if not understand you may not need the answer yet or it may not be the right question you should ask…but don’t think that just because you don’t get an answer that the universe doesn’t hear you.

I know, not as focused as some of my other meditations, but it can possibly be more useful to you in the long run.

Weekly Meditation: Regaining Your Energy

Now last week I talked about cutting the etheric bonds that drain you of energy.  This week I want to talk about increase your energy level.

There are three main sources of energy that we draw from.  The first is from God.  The second ourselves.  The third is from others. I’m going to talk more about the second and third next week but this week I want to focus on God.

We are all a part of God and constantly connected to him. He loves us unconditionally and would love to send us all the energy necessary for us to realize the silliness of this realm of existence and help us see that we are already an enlightened being and not in need of anything else to complete us.  However, since God also respects the law of free will, the thing that makes us his equal, he will not force us out of this dream, we have to do it ourselves, by our choice.  And because of that we deny ourselves a lot of energy that would help us raise our consciousness, our attitude, and our general well being every day.

So this week let’s try and dispel that.  Like last week I would first try and cut any etheric bonds that may be draining you of energy, or by which you are draining others.

Next ask God and your spirit guides to connect you back to your source, God, and let you receive energy from the love that God is already giving you.  If it helps  envision a single cord of light coming from Heaven, coming down and wrapping around your spinal cord and filling your whole body with energy.

I might also suggest if you can commit an extra twenty minutes or so you might want to go over your seven chakras, see each of them cleansed of negative energy and each connected with an etheric chord from Heaven.  As you do you might want to repeat the following mantras for each chakra:

First Chakra. My life is filled with abundance, safety and prosperity
Second Chakra. My emotions are balanced and in tune with light of Heaven
Third Chakra. My will is strong and one with God’s
Fourth Chakra. I love and am loved and know the love of God
Fifth Chakra. I speak and create beauty and truth inspired by God
Sixth Chakra. I see the complete truth and the now through the light of God
Seventh Chakra. I am one with God

Doing this should lighten your mood, increase your overall health, fill you with more energy each day and allow you to see things more positively.

Weekly Meditation: Thing to tell yourself…

I was working on a significantly longer meditation today when I saw this…

I don’t think I can top that right now.  Tell yourself these things at least 3 times every day this week…or better yet, print it out and put where you work or spend a lot of time.

Weekly Meditation: The Power of Water

Water has a powerful cleansing and energizing effect…not just physically but spiritually as well.  Most New Agers believe, all matter has attached to it certain fields of energy that are either positive or negative (most physical item seem to retain negative energy more easily than positive by the mere nature that it requires intelligence and a soul to create and disperse positive energy).  If this is true than the daily layer of dead skin, sweat and dirt we acquire on us is a mild drag on our spiritual selves.  Conversely clean water is one of the easiest sources of positive energy in the spiritual world.  Thus it become clear why in the ancient world (where bathing was not a daily practice) ritual bathing for European pagans and most religions of the Middle East, baptism, or dunking oneself in rivers like the Ganges in India was alway such a sacred, revered and important experience (you were often cleaning off days, if not weeks or months of negatively charged grime).  Nowadays this experience does not do as much as it might have because we seldom not collect a layer of dust (nor is bathing in the Ganges physically cleansing anymore)…but the water is still pure and full of energy.  The only problem is that you are most receptive to that energy when you are in the water.

So while you shower or bathe every day repeat a meditation, mantra or prayer as you let the water run over you.  I will suggest the following prayer that we have been using for the last two weeks.

My life is filled with abundance, safety and prosperity
My emotional are balanced and in tune with light of Heaven
My will is strong and one with God’s
I love and am loved and know the love of God
I speak and create beauty and truth inspired by God
I see the complete truth and the now through the light of God
I am one with God

Now if you have another prayer or mantra that works better for you, use it, but for all this week focus on your connection to your higher self and God as you let water wash over you.
