A simple classic scene makes this movie economically sound…
…primarily because it shows that the government through the Smoot-Hawley Tariff made the Depression worse–although it really should also mention that it was the government, not business that caused the initial crash, and it was also the government through the New Deal that turned a Depression from a year or two to over a decade of suffering.
But the fact that it still shows us the genius of the Laffer Curve (and that anyone with the last name Bush doesn’t know anything about economics is also a bonus).
